Baseball Scouting  and Recruiting  -  Baseball Player Development

MLBscout offers baseball talent identification services, baseball player profiling services, and baseball player development services for the purposes of scouting, recruiting, and coaching These services allow  baseball coaches to: 

• Screen large groups of players in a short period of time

• Identify prospects to be monitored, followed, and/or recruited

• Evaluate strengths and weaknesses in a player or team's "physical tools package"

• Evaluate strengths and weaknesses in a player or team's "mental skills package"

Through consultation with professional scouts and sport scientists, we have perfected a simple battery of field tests to assess core physical abilities needed for high-level baseball performance. We have also developed a short series of pen-and-paper tests to assess important components of baseball's mental game.

These tests provide coaches with information that complements their on-field observations, reduces errors when making selection decisions, and providing a clear focus for player development efforts.

• We provide you with instructions on how to set up stations and conduct the field tests. Results are sent to us for processing.

• "Physical tools" are assessed using the same battery of field tests used in our talent identification system.

• We compare your players to an extensive database of age-group, high school, college, international, and professional players.

• "Mental skills" are assessed by completing an online questionnaire, and scores are compared to established norms for the measures involved.

• You receive a detailed report that contains each player's overall rankings and their rankings on the individual tests.

• A written report provides feedback about the strengths and weakness of each player's physical tools and mental skills.

• You can use this information to identify players you want to follow, set goals for individual or team improvement, and/or grade players for assignment to squads / teams.

• Training programs can then be formulated to emphasize development in specific areas. If assistance is needed to do this, we will recommend books, videos, and training manuals.
